World Intellectual Property Day

World Intellectual Property Day is observed annually on 26 April. The event was established by the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) in 2000 to raise awareness of how patents, copyright, trademarks and designs impact on daily life and to celebrate creativity, and the contribution made by creators and innovators to the development of societies across the globe. The 26 April was chosen as the date for World Intellectual Property Day because it coincides with the date on which the Convention Establishing the World Intellectual Property Organization entered into force in 1970.

With Lyme you can use the time stamps and prove the immutability of the log file.

The time stamp ensures the file hasn't been changed since the moment the log was concluded.

For that reason this stamp is a separate file, because only this way can we ensure the log file is immutable.

The time stamp is created at the same time as the log file, that is, when the decision of accepting or rejecting is taken, as well as when the message is ignored and expires. To learn more about log file, check the article about it here.

Let us now analyze its content. If you want to download the example time stamp used in this article, click here.

On the top we have the  Lyme – Log your message logo and the indication that this file is a time stamp certificate.

The first field named "Log file name" refers to the name of the correspondent log file. The "Comment" field mentions the time in the message course this time stamp was generated and it says “generated upon end of message cycle”. The "Log Fingerprint" is an unique reference generated for this file and, right bellow it we find the date and time this time stamp was generated.

This mixture of letters and numbers refer to the most technical part of the time stamp and, in a simplified way, we can say it's the encrypted code for confirming the veracity of the log file data. That verification can be done here. For this time stamp, as it's for demonstration purposes only, the verification doesn't work, but you can always try with one of your own.
